This is a new gaming notebook from PC-Koubou. The Lesance AS520AW-DUO. This notebook provides 1.86 GHz Intel Core Duo T2400 processor, 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, 60GB HDD, 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics, and a DVD Super Multi drive. It features the 15 Inch WXGA display which is perfect for enjoying your favorite games or movies. Other features include four USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3-in-1 memory card reader. With the weight only 6.5 pounds, Lesance AS520AW-DUO is available in Japan for $1,370.

Fujistu-Siemens’ Amilo Xi1546 is the opposite of what a laptop should be. Although it features s an Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83GHz CPU, 1GB DDR2 553MHz SDRAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 graphics, 8x DVD-RW drive, and a 17.0-inch CrystalView WXGA+ (1440 x 900) display, it weighs 8.8-pounds. A laptop should be light but have the specs of this laptop. Here’s what NotebookReview thought:

As a desktop replacement laptop it is nearly perfect and brilliant value for the performance you are getting. It is not portable but the wonderful screen, top-end components and media capabilities mean it will play all your movies and games.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Z61p is powered by the current favourite 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo processor T2500 1,2 MB L2 cache - 667 MHz front-side bus (FSB). It features 1 GB of memory which is upgradeable up to 4GB, and 100 GB (7200 rpm) HDD. The laptop has a 15.4 Inch wide screen TFT display with 1920 x 1200 resolution and is compatible with IBM Director Agent. Connectivity options include 56K4 V.905 modem (V.92-design) and 1 Gigabit Ethernet LAN connection. It measures 37.3 mm x 40.2 mm and weighs about 2.7 kg. The Lenovo ThinkPad Z61p’s price is $2,400.

Sony’s VGN-AR11S is a 17-inch laptop that features an Intel Core Duo T2500 (2.0GHz) processor, 1GB of memory, 2 x 100GB SATA HDDs, a Blu-ray drive, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600GT graphics, and a built-in webcam. On the outside there are three USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi, 4-in-1 memory card reader, and an HDMI port.The VGN-AR11s measures at 416 x 300 x 34mm and weighs 8.3-pounds.

What you’ve actually got here is a superb Media Center PC, with all the components to allow it to be the centre of your high-definition entertainment setup. Yes it’s pretty expensive, but you really are getting not just cutting edge, but potentially future proof technology here - once Blu-ray movies start to appear, the AR11S will add another very impressive string to its bow.
