Unlike the CF-29, the CF-74 doesn’t have a touch screen, which is a bit of a disappointment. I have to say that I was never a big fan of touch screens on notebooks, but I became a convert when I reviewed the CF-29. On the plus side, the screen is a bit more bright and vivid without the touch screen coating. Talking of brightness, this is the brightest notebook screen I have ever seen, bar none - so much so, that it actually hurt my eyes to sit in front of this machine with the screen at full brightness! Of course the point of this retina burning brightness is that when you’re using a notebook outside, the strong ambient light can make it difficult to see the screen, but the ToughBook CF-74 suffers no such issues.

The laptop features a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo T2400 processor, 80GB shock-mounted hard drive, Bluetooth connectivity, 512MB of DDR2 memory, and EV-DO support. A biometric fingerprint scanner and Trusted Platform Module (TPM v.1.2) keeps the laptop secure. It sells for $4,169USD.

The Znote 6214W has a 14.1 inch WXGA (1280×768), and powered by 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo T2500, a powerful 512MB nVidia GeForce Go7600, 2048MB DDR2 PC5300, 80GB 7200RPM SATA, Sony DVD-RW DL Slot-in, Realtek HD 7.1 Audio, Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 (802.11 a/b/g), and an integrated Bluetooth. NotebookReview wrote a review of this notebook.

One of the selling points for the Zepto 6214W has to be the Realtek HD 7.1 audio, complete with S/PDIF optical output. I haven’t a 7.1 channel system to hook this up to for testing purposes, but my previous experience with Realtek chipsets leads me to believe that sound quality would be excellent through the optical output. Sound quality when hooked to a pair of low end Altec Lansing speakers is excellent, but it almost always is.

Haseenote, the Korean company, will sell JIVE W205R in Korea for 830.00 Euro. The notebook features a 12 inch display screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, a 1.66 Ghz Core Duo T2050, 1GB of RAM, 80GB of SATA, DVD Multi burner, and 64MB of ATI Radeon Xpress 200M. W205R is not compatible with gamers since it lacks of a powerful video card.

Toshiba launched its new high-end notebook, the Qosmio F30/795LS. It is a multimedia notebook that features an 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo T2300 processor, 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, 160GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 graphics, analog/digital TV tuners, DVR capabilities, DVD Super-Multi drive, and a 15.4 inch widescreen display. The notebook goes on sale this month with the price of $2,442.

Toshiba Japan has launched a new notebook which is targeted at business users. The Dynabook Satellite P10 160C/5 is powered by a 1.63 Ghz Intel Celeron M 380 processor, 256MB of memory, a 15 inch XGA (1024 x 768) display, the Radeon Xpress 200M chipset, a DVD-ROM / CD-RW drive, and Wireless LAN. In addition, this notebook runs on Windows XP Home edition. Other features include four USB 2.0, two PCMCIA card slots, one Ethernet, Modem, VGA out and Video In / Out. Using Lithium Ion battery, the notebook has 1.5 hours of battery life. The unit measures 331mm ×278 mm ×28.5 - 35.8 mm and weighs 2.8 kgs. Its price is at 81,100 Yen or about $700.
