Asus R1E tablet PC has approved by the FCC so you should be able to find it on Asus’s site in a few days. This 13.3-inch convertible tablet is based on Santa Rosa platform, which sports Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 / T7300 / T7100 processor, up to 4GB RAM, max 160GB hard drive, 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth, dual layer DVD burner, GMA X3100 graphics and Windows Vista operating system.

The 15.4-inch Acer Aspire 5520 laptop is designed by BMW Group design team for regular home users. The laptop is powered by AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52/56/60/64/66 processor, Nvidia 8400M G (128MB VRAM) or 7000M graphics card, up to 4GB RAM, max 250GB hard drive, dual layer DVD burner, webcam, 802.11b/g wireless, Bluetooth, and Windows Vista operating system. It also features ceramic coated echelon-type keyboard and Dolby home theater system. The Acer Aspire 5520 laptop is priced at around $1000.

Toshiba’s Qosmio G40 17-inch notebook PC supports HD-DVD recording drive. By connecting it to the company’s REGZA LCD TV via REGZA Link, users can enjoy watching full HD video of the HD-DVD on the TV screen and also use reserved recording function controlled by the laptop. FYI, the Qosmio G40 adopts Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7300 processor, Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics board and 400GB of hard disk drive. No word yet on pricing.

Toshiba has released Portege R500, which is using 20grams lightweight motherboard with dual-sided component mounting. To reduce the size of the motherboard, the firm utilized its proprietary High Density Mounting Technology process. This 12.1-inch all-in-one notebook PC comes with a 7mm DVD Super Multi drive, and Intel Ultra Low Voltage CPU, which enables its battery to run up to 12.5 hours. The laptop retails for $2,700.

CNet reported that Fujitsu has designed a notebook computer with a biodegradable chassis. The Fujitsu LifeBook comes with a chassis made from a plastic made from cornstarch, rather than petroleum. This eco-friendly chassis will decompose in a matter of months. It is also used in Fujitsu cell phones and point-of-sale terminals. The company’s devices with biodegradable parts are currently available only in Japan, but are also expected to be available in US and Europe reportedly.
