HP Recalls Laptops With Intel 6 Series/C200 ‘Cougar Point’ Chipset

by Johan on February 6, 2011

HP has decided to recall its laptop and desktop PCs with the Intel 6 Series/C200 “Cougar Point” chipset and the second generation of Intel Core “Sandy Bridge” processors. The company has stopped production of these affected computers on January 31, 2011. Owners of HP “Sandy Bridge” laptops should check in Windows Device Manager if their PC contains the faulty 6 Series C200 chipset.

If you have purchased an HP computer with the affected chipset, you have three options:
– According to information from Intel, you can continue to use your HP computer. We will inform customers when a service solution becomes available.
– You can return your HP computer to the point of purchase for a refund.
– You can return your HP computer to the point of purchase and choose a comparable system,” HP says.
