Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler Patch

Intel Core 2 Duo processor-based Apple Mac computers, including MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops, support the next generation 802.11n wireless technologies. However, users should install the“Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler 1.0” patch in order to enable it. Apple Insider reported that the patch will be available next month and will cost $4.99. FYI, the 802.11n wireless speed is claimed to scale to 600Mbit/sec, with a range 50% greater than Wi-Fi can offer. The 802.11n is currently the draft standard and expected to be ratified by IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in 2008.

Leaked Ultraportable Apple MacBook Specs

Leaked Ultraportable MacBook Specs

It seems that the rumor of the upcoming thin MacBook is getting hotter today. Some friends at Mac OS Rumors said that Apple have listed all the specifications of the thin MacBook. They got the list from their “trusted sources in Cupertino and Southeast Asia.” Here are the specs…

• 12-inch widescreen display(1280×800 resolution).
• 2.16 or 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
• 1GB of DDR2-667 memory standard. Max. capacity 3GB.
• Firewire 400&800, Gigabit Ethernet, Digital/Analog Audio minijack I/O ports.
• ExpressCard expansion slot (believed to be /34 type)
• 2.5in SATA HDDs at 120GB & up, ‘Combo’ or ‘Super’ optical drive.
• 256MB of ATi Radeon Mobility X1600 or nVIDIA GeForce GO 7600.
• Mini-DVI display connector with full second display capabilities
• Built-in iSight, stereo microphone, Airport Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR.
• Battery life is expected to be “best in class” at about 8 hours is possible.

If you compare that specs to the MacBook, you’ll realize those specs are way too high to be real.

World’s First Carbon Fiber MacBook

World’s First Carbon Fiber MacBook

This modder claims to have created “the world’s first carbon fiber MacBook” (notice the quotes). He used Carbon Graphix, a $20 vinyl sticker you can get just about anywhere and slapped it on his MacBook like a decal. The thing really looks like real carbon fiber so it could fool people on the first pass. Ok so it’s not the real thing but don’t you wish you could make your MacBook super light as air and super durable with a $20 sticker? LOL. Not a bad idea though. More pictures after the jump.

The sticker can be easily applied and removed from your MacBook to give it that MacBook Pro look. This definitely beats the alternative, and looks more polished too.
