LG’s new S1-M002A9 has a lot to offer with their 100GB SATA HDD, 2GB of DDR2-667 memory, and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 512MB graphics. It also features n Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 (2.16-GHz) processor which makes this a great laptop.

If you are shopping in this range, you should put the S1 on your list. LG has made an almost perfect notebook in the S1. It is well constructed, offers terrific performance and looks extremely stylish. We don’t have to wait until the next revision to see the cons listed below worked out: a bigger HDD and a battery are easy to add. And please LG drop the VGA port for a DVI

Averatec 2300 Goes Dual-Core

Averatec 2300 goes dual-core with the 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 CPU, 12 inch notebook, 2GB of DDR-533 memory, 100GB SATA HDD, and a dual-layer DVD burner. It also packs a plethora of ports for its size, including gigabit Ethernet, 56k modem, audio in / out, 4-in-1 flash card reader, VGA output, 4-pin FireWire, a trio of USB 2.0 connectors, and a snazzy ExpressCard slot to boot. The Averatec 2300 ranges from just US$849.99 to US$949.99. No word yet on availability.

A Core 2 Duo Notebook for €900

Wolf-N-fox, the Korean company, offers a 1.66GHz Core 2 Duo T5500 notebook, with 1GB of DDR2 667, a 15.4 inch display (16:10) with a WSXGA+ resolution, an Intel 945GM graphic card, 80GB of SATA HCC with the possibility to add another hard disk (by swapping the optical drive), and a CD-R/DVD combo. Measuring 360mm x 267mm x 34mm and weighing 2.6kg, this notebook only costs €915.

It also has a 4-in-1 memory card reader and 802.11 a/b/g WLAN. This laptop is currently available in Japan. Its price tag is approximately ¥129,950 or around US$1,086.
