AIS has expanded its rugged tablet PC range with the all new AIS 10.4-inch Rugged Tablet PC. Featuring an aluminum-magnesium alloy construction with individually sealed ports, this tablet PC is specially designed for operating in generally extreme conditions and meets the military’s MIL-STD 810F standards for shock, vibration and drop resistance. The system itself is equipped with a 10.4-inch touch-sensitive sunlight readable LCD display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, up to 2GB RAM, a shock-mounted removable hard drive or compact flash, GPS, WiFi, WWAN, Bluetooth and a 6-cell battery. Kohjinsha has updated its EX netbook series by releasing the EX6 that comes equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, an Intel 945GSE Express chipset, up to 2GB DDR2-533MHz RAM, a 11.6-inch touchscreen display with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, a 160GB 2.5-inch SATA 5400rpm HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a DVD multi burner. Weighing at 1.7kg or around 3-pounds, the high-end model retails for 69,800 Yen, while the low-end model (without Bluetooth or fingerprint reader) for 59,800 Yen. [Engadget]

Word has it that the upcoming Apple Tablet will come in two versions, one with a webcam and the other version designed for education. The tablet looks like a giant iPhone with a home button and a 10-inch touchscreen display. It also has the same glossy plastic back as the iPhone.
