The highly anticipated unibody 17 inch MacBook Pro has been confirmed by Apple. It is claimed as the thinnest and lightest 17-inch laptop in the market today. The all-new 17 inch MacBook Pro comes jam packed with a 1900 x 1200 LED backlit display, with a 700:1 contrast ratio, a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / 6MB L2 cache, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 memory, Nvidia GeForce 9400M/ Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT / 512MB, 320GB hard drive and slot-loading SuperDrive. According to rumors, the new 17-inch MacBook Pro will be announced at Macworld. The new version is expected to have a slim, extended-life, non-removable battery. The laptop features a “super slim” battery that can’t be removed, not unlike the MacBook Air. Sadly, there is no further info about this new MacBook Pro. Stay tuned for more details. [Apple Insider]

Some dudes at iFixit have disassembled the new 13-inch MacBook and the new Macbook Pro. There are 56 screws on the MacBook Pro’s keyboard plus two on the power button. They need 15 minutes to unscrew all of them. See more pictures in the gallery below. [iFixit]

Apple has released the new 13 inch MacBook and the new 15 inch MacBook Pro. These new laptops boast all-metal enclosures with the high-end video graphics, the bright LED-backlit displays, and a large glass Multi-Touch trackpad. These new notebooks are also the greenest notebooks from Apple that meets Energy Star 4.0, EPEAT Gold, and RoHS environmental standards. Apple’s new MacBook features NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card (shared) and the new MacBook Pro receives NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphic card (shared).
Other specs are include a built-in iSight camera, Mini DisplayPort to connect with the Apple LED Cinema Display, 8x slot-loading SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), a 160GB or a 250GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard disk drive, up to 4GB of RAM, and a 2.0GHz or 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Apple has quietly updated its MacBook tonight to the Santa Rosa architecture with the GMA X3100 integrated video. These new MacBooks adopt the Santa Rosa chipset that offers a faster 800MHz front side bus over the previous MacBook models. The introduction of the GMA X3100 video card also provides significant benefits over the previous models.
