Apple has quietly updated its MacBook tonight to the Santa Rosa architecture with the GMA X3100 integrated video. These new MacBooks adopt the Santa Rosa chipset that offers a faster 800MHz front side bus over the previous MacBook models. The introduction of the GMA X3100 video card also provides significant benefits over the previous models.

It is said that Apple will release a new version of MacBook laptops in the first half of November after the release of the Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard” operating system later this month. However, there is no confirmation from the company so far.

9to5mac has reported that Apple is ready to update its Macbook with a new enclosure. The new enclosures come in both Black and Silver aluminum variants and “considerably slimmer” than the current MacBook and a bit slimmer than the current MacBook Pros. The enclosures are also have a thinner border around the LCDs, and the keyboards resemble the new Bluetooth keyboard. In addition, the MacBook was last updated on May 15, 2007.

Apple today released AirPort Extreme Update 2007-004 via its Software Pane and on the Web. AirPort Extreme is the perfect wireless solution for home, school, and business. Apple says that this update is “recommended for all Intel-based MacBook, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini computers and improves the reliability of AirPort connections.”
