
NEC comes back with its new ultra-thin CULV-based notebook called the LaVie M. This energy efficient notebook is powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Celeron ULV SU2300 processor and equipped with a 13.3-inch 1366 x 768 display, up to 4GB RAM, a 320GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, an HDMI port, a 4.1-hour battery and Windows 7 Home Premium OS. NEC just introduced two new members from its LaVie Light netbook series. Known as the LaVie Light BL300 and BL100, both netbooks come with Wi-Fi, and a 10.1-inch LCD with LED backlight. The BL100 is powered by an Intel Atom N270 CPU and a 16GB SSD, meanwhile the BL300 features an Intel Atom N280 CPU with an option of 160GB HDD or a 16GB SSD. Here is another MacBook Air competitor from NEC. The VersaPro UltraLite Type VS is thinner than the MacBook Air. Measuring 15.8mm to 29.9mm thin, the netbook comes with three USB slots, Ethernet port, an SD card reader, a 10.6-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1208 x 768, Intel’s 1.86GHz Atom Z540 CPU, a 1GB RAM, and a 64GB SSD. If you plan to buy a new laptop this summer, then check out a new member of the NEC LaVie L series. It features a 16 inch Full HD LCD with a trackpad which can be converted into a numeric pad. The main features to this laptop are Blu-Ray drive, Core 2 Duo P8600 CPU, 4GB of RAM DDR3, 320GB of HDD, and HDMI out. [NEC]

NEC Japan will release its new VersaPro UltraLight VC notebook in January 2009. The notebook features a 12.1 inch LCD display at WXGA resolution with either Intel Celeron 723 or Core 2 Duo SU9300 processor. Other features include 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive, Intel GS45 Express chipset, Wi-Fi connectivity, Fingerprint sensor, Felica port and SD memory card slot. You can also choose Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business OS. However, I am not sure the Celeron processor will be able to handle Windows Vista OS.
