CEATEC 2008 is the platform for NEC to showcase its LaVie C series laptop. Known as the LC950/RG, the desktop replacement comes equipped with Blu-ray drive, and is powered by Intel Cetrino 2 platform, 16-inch LCD display, 2GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, wireless LAN, and Windows Vista Home Premium OS. NEC has just revealed its latest Tablet PC, The 12PNC-W2/B2 (12″) and 15PNC-W2/B2 (15″). Both will be powered by ATOM CPU Z530 @ 1.6GHz, with optional 512MB or 1GB of RAM, 80GB of HDD, and touchscreen LCD. It will also come with optional Windows XP or Vista Operating System. NEC today introduced a new VersaPro VE laptop that comes with an “Eco Button”. Using this button, it will decrease energy consumption by 20% by reducing the CPU speed and screen brightness. Other features include 15.1 inch LCD with 1280×800 resolution, 2Ghz Core 2 Duo T7250 CPU, 80GB HDD and 1GB RAM. No word on pricing so far. [Akihabara]

What makes the NEC ShieldPRO FC-N22A Tablet PC special is that it is able to work perfectly under extreme conditions (-20 to over 50 degrees Celsius). The tablet PC supports IP55 requirements compliance and is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 1.06GHz processor, 12.1 inch display with LED backlight and brightness level of 750cd/m2 (XGA resolution), 512MB RAM (upgradeable up to 4GB) and touch screen functionality. Unfortunately, the NEC ShieldPRO FC-N22A Tablet PC is priced at a hefty €2,800. [Akihabara]

NEC claims its new Versa S9100 laptop to be the “toughest notebook in the world”. Its top cover is specially built to withstand a massive 300Kgs per square foot of pressure. However, the keyboard itself is not water resistant, too bad for a “toughest notebook in the world”. This desktop replacement also comes equipped with a fingerprint biometric sensor and TPM security chip combo. The NEC Versa S9100 laptop retails for a hefty US$2,700 in Singapore. [UberGizmo]

Looks like the La Vie is getting influenced characters from Kimi Kiss, a popular Japanese series. Fans of the series not only get this design, but have a variety of colors to choose from. It also features a 2GHz Mobile Sempron 3600+ CPU, 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, DVD combo drive and a 15.4-inch 1,280 x 800 resolution panel.
