They have same rough exterior, shock resistant HDD and water-proof keyboard. The models come in two sizes: CF-52 for 15.4 inches, and CF-74 for 13.3 inches. Panasonic has announced that their Toughbook 19 will be getting an upgrade. The sturdy laptop now has a 1.06GHz U7500 processor (2MB L2 cache), up to 4GB of SDRAM, 80GB shock-mounted HDD, 10.4-inch daylight-readable display, a battery good for around seven hours, optional integrated WWAN / GPS / 2-megapixel webcam and a magnesium alloy case. The new upgraded Toughbook 19 is going for about $3,199. [Engadget]

Panasonic has decided to release the Toughbook, which is the company’s first UMPC with Intel Atom processor. The gadget is a water and dust resistant and comes with a 5.6 inch touchscreen display. No word on pricing so far. [Akihabara]

Panasonic updates its Thoughbook rugged laptop PC series with four new models. These new laptops feature the Intel “Santa Rosa” platform and enhanced protection from drops and spills. Known as the CF-T7, CF-W7, CF-Y7, and the CF-R7, the new desktop replacements are aimed at corporate users and can survive a fall from a greater height. The firm claims that the new models can be dropped from 76 centimeters while switched on and still work.
