Sony has recently showcased its upcoming ultraportable netbook ‘VAIO X’ during IFA 2009. However, details remain scarce at the moment, but from what we heard the netbook will feature an Atom processor, an 11.1-inch display and a new all-day battery. Stay tuned for more updates. More

The Sony VAIO W netbook is now available for pre-order at Amazon for $499 in Brown and Pink colors. As mentioned earlier, this mini laptop is powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU and features a 10.1-inch widescreen LCD with 1366 × 768 pixel resolution, a 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Bluetooth, Windows XP Home OS and a 3-cell battery with up to 2.5 hours of use time. Sony Japan has released a limited edition VAIO Type C Crocodile Edition in Japan. Each laptop is covered with crocodile skin and available in three different colors including red, pink and brown. As for the specs itself, it sports a 14.1-inch LCD display with 1280 x 800 resolution, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS graphics, up to 8GB RAM, up to 500GB hard drive, Windows Vista OS, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity. A lot of mysterious gadgets and laptops reveal by the end of this year and this is the new Sony Vaio’s netbook that will be called “Vaio Pocket”. The pocket comes with a 1.33-GHz Intel processor (probably an atom), 1600 x 768 8-inch LED display, 60GB HDD or 128GB SSD, and Windows Vista. No words on pricing yet. [Techeblog]

The 2008 CEATEC in Japan is a platform for Sony to unveil their latest VAIO type-T ultralight laptop. Weighing at only 1.31Kg, the notebook PC comes jam packed with a 1.2GHz of Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo SU9300 processor, a 11.1-inch LCD display with LED backlight (1,366 x 768), Blu-ray drive, and a HDMI port. The VAIO type T will be released on October 4th in Japan for ¥300,000. [AVING]
